The outline drawings were done before we bought the house. The
previous owners were originally granted planning permission in
1994.

The cottage is at the end of a terrace of three, with open field
behind and a village street at the front. The extension to the
side replaces a single story lean-to kitchen (and an old bathroom
added at the back in the seventies) with a new living room, study,
bedroom, two bathrooms, stairs and a landing. The original plan
area was about 105 m2, the extension adds
another 30%. (That's a total area of around 1500 ft2).
Right now the house is without the room at the
side and only has four rooms so things are a extremely cramped.
We rented another house for the first year of the project, while
we did the demolition and plumbing.
From the front the features will be the new tall window to
the hall and a long sloping roof from the first floor level right
up to the ridge over the stairs. The living room will have a window
in to corner that looks to the front and side.
To the rear there is a canopy over the back door and kitchen and
study windows.
