After a week all the ground floor windows were in. The hole was
knocked though into the side of the house where, and two large
lintels were put in place. It's amazing how large a hole you can
cut in brickwork, without it falling down!

The scaffolding arrived Wednesday morning. The floor joists were
cut to length ready for building into the blockwork.

There where a lot of wooden brackets made to tilt the hanging
tiles out from the wall at the bottom. The lintels above all the
windows are in place.

The bricklayers are now now getting through blocks at an alarming
rate, we've had more than 500 delivered in the space of two days.

At the end of the second week, we're up to the level of the bedroom
window cills. The ground floor rooms are starting to look really
cavernous, what was a plan outline for so long has suddenly been
transformed into a three dimensional object.
After twelve days things are slowing up a bit, the bricklayers
only turned up two days in the last week. The wall plates are
in and we're waiting for the carpenter to start the roof.
